Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has restated his administration’s strong commitment to prioritizing education as the foundation of sustainable development in the state.

The Governor made this known during the combined 8th and 9th Convocation Ceremony of the Federal University Dutse FUD, where hundreds of students received undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Speaking at the event, Governor Namadi congratulated the graduating students and described the ceremony as both historic and inspirational, while praising their hard work and resilience, noting that they are now prepared to take on greater responsibilities.

He also commended the university’s management for upholding academic excellence and revealed that FUD had, at one time, been ranked the best in Mathematical Sciences among African universities.

According to him, the state is collaborating with FUD on key research initiatives, particularly in agriculture, aimed at solving farming challenges and empowering youth to lead innovations in agribusiness.

Reaffirming his administration’s education-focused agenda, the Governor highlighted major policies including the consistent allocation of at least 30% of the state’s annual budget to education, recruitment of qualified teachers, and the renovation of schools.

He also cited the revitalization of technical and vocational education, expansion of tertiary institutions, and the government’s acquisition of Khadija University Majia, which will soon become a specialized public-private university.

Governor Namadi urged the graduating students to be ambassadors of excellence and contribute meaningfully to society, reminding them that the knowledge and values they have acquired will shape their future.

The Governor’s remarks underline Jigawa’s strategic investment in education as a driver of development and youth empowerment.
