Kaduna State Government says its investment of one hundred and ten million Euro in the Bus Rapid Transit BRT project is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving the quality of life for residents.
The Commissioner for Public Works and Infrastructure, Ibrahim Hamza, made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting on the BRT project held in Kaduna.
The BRT project is designed to enhance urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and improve the overall quality of life for residents in Kaduna State.
Commissioner Ibrahim Hamza reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming the state’s transportation system to drive economic growth and improve living standards in local communities.
He explained that the BRT initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen transportation infrastructure and services across Kaduna.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority, Engr. Inuwa Ibrahim, described the project as a significant step forward in addressing the transportation needs of the growing population.
He urged stakeholders to think critically about challenges and propose solutions to enhance the commuter experience.
In his remarks, the Team Leader of Rebel Artic Joint Venture, Ted Regino, said his firm is overseeing the supervision of contractors on the project.
He assured Kaduna residents of efficient, timely, and high-quality service delivery.
The person in charged of BRT’s capacity-building programs, Engr. Emmanuel Oche John, emphasized the importance of ensuring all stakeholders are well-informed and engaged in the project.
One of the participants, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Alhaji Babangida Jafaru, expressed optimism that the BRT would help address longstanding transportation challenges in the state.
The meeting, themed “BRT as a Tool for Moving a Growing Population Sustainably in a Digital Age,” brought together stakeholders from organizations including NURTW, FRSC, and KlASTELEA.
