Kwara state Government has handed over Federal Government Science College, Gwanara to the Federal Ministry of Education to revamp education sector across the state.

The state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazq who was represented by the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajiya Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu at the event held in Gwanara, Baruteen Local Government Area of the state, said the idea was also meant to increase enrollment in schools.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration to restoring lost glory of education in the state.

AbdulRazq sought for cooperation of all and sundry to achieve the set goals.

According to him, one of the aspirations of his administration is the promotion of Science and technical education in the state.

AbdulRazq appreciated the Federal Ministry of Education for the initiative and dedication for making the establishment of the School seamless and fruitful.

He urged the community to take ownership of the projects by guiding it jealously.

In her address, the Director Technology and Science Education Department, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs Olodo Adenike, commended Governor AbdulRazq for his prompt response to provide three sites for the establishment of the College.

She said the gesture will open up the area for more development.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Salihu Danladi and the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Baba Saliu Mohammed Boriya, emphasized that siting and establishment of the Federal Government Science College at Kwara North senatorial district was commendable.

They said the handing over of the College would be of great benefits to the host community.

On his part, the Emir of Gwanara, Alhaji Sabi Abdullahi Idris – Kotokotogi thanked Governor AbdulRazq for his unrelenting efforts at opening up the community for growth and development.
