A boat has capsized in River Venue, Ibi local government area of Taraba State, North East Nigeria.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the LGA, Honourable Bala Bako confirmed this to newsmen on Tuesday 13th September 2022.

He said the boat was loaded with passengers on its way to Sarkin Kudu market when the incident occurred.

According to him, while taking off from the coast, the boat engine went off and in the cause of starting the engine the boat hit a building of a bank and it broke into pieces.

Bako explained that the Passengers were rescued but a woman and two children were yet to be seen.

The Council Boss revealed that life jackets will be provided for use in every boat to safeguard people’s life.

Honourable Bala Bako, however, informed that a passenger manifest will also be put in place to know the people crossing the river in case of an eventuality.
