The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, has approved the appointment Mr Olanrewaju Smart Wasiu, as his new chief of staff and nine other aides.

In a statement by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Mr Lanre Lasisi, said until his appointment, the new Chief of staff was the Deputy Chief of Staff before his elevation to succeed Alhaji Sunusi Garba Rikiji, who has resigned to seek for an elective office in 2023.

According to the statement, the Speaker announced some fresh appointments of his aides following the vacancies created by the resignation of some appointees.

Other appointees are former Special Adviser on Special Duties, Mr Olufunmi Badmus, as new Deputy Chief of Staff, Abdulra’uf Modibbo, as Special Assistant Political North East, while Lamir Umar Ibrahim, was appointed as Special Assistant Executive Relations.

Similarly, Kenneth Uzoigwe, Special Assistant Political South East, Bisi Irinoye, Special Assistant Legislative matters, as well as Ibrahim Ladega, Special Assistant Political South West.

According to the statement Jamila Mu’azu was appointed to serve as Senior Legislative Assistant I, Obiageli Onu, Senior Legislative Assistant II; and Kunle Bello, as Senior Legislative Assistant III.

The Speaker, advised the new political appointees to discharge their responsibilities in compliance with the duties in the office of the Speaker for successful implementation of the Ninth Assembly’s Agenda.

The statement adds that all the appointments are with immediate effect.
