Regional politics has been identified as a factor that undermine the capacity of Nigerians to take rational political decisions.

Professor Alkasim Abba of the department of history Ahmadu University Zaria stated this at a lecture with the theme: contemporary Nigerian politics and the ghost of the politics of the independence struggle organized by Arewa House Kaduna.

He said politicians used regional and ethnicity during election with active support of some media organization for selfish interest.

Professor Alkasim Abba stressed the need for disengaging from regional politics and focus on Nigeria economic development prosperity and future progress.

In his remark, the Vice Chancellor Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professor Kabiru Bala said the nation’s problem can be solved through dissemination of knowledge.

He said the lecture would promote national unity and cohesion.

Also in her massage, the Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe commended the organizers of the lecture for discussing topical issues of national interest.
