Kwara state Police Command has arrested a young man, Hassan Ibrahim over alleged killing of his 90-year old biological father, retired Army Corporal Sabi Ibrahim.

Parading the suspect at the command Headquarters in Ilorin, the Police spokesman Okasanmi Ajayi said on 5th of August this year, one Aishat Ibrahim reported a case of missing person (her father) one Sabi Ibrahim 90-year- old retired army corporal to the police Command.

According to him, the circumstances of the deceased disappearance elicited suspicion hence the resolve of the Command to get to the root of the matter.

He said investigation into the matter led to the arrest of Ibrahim Hassan, a biological son of the missing old man.

Ajayi explained that during investigation, the suspect confessed to have administered paracetamol injection mixed with other substances on his father, who became weak and dizzy, after returning from bank where he took his father to renew and collect his ATM card.

Ajayi said the suspect took the father on a motorcycle he borrowed to convey his father to an isolated uncompleted building and strangulated him to death, adding that the suspect dug a shallow grave where he buried his father after dispossessing him of the Bank ATM card.

He said the suspect after escaping to Kaduna state started withdrawing from his late father’s account, noting that he withdrew a total sum of N59,000 Naira.

Ajayi said the suspect confessed that the purpose of killing his father was to dispossess him of the ATM card since he already know the pin.

He maintained that the ATM card and the stolen motorcycle have been recovered, adding that suspect will soon be charged to court.
