The National Broadcasting Commission NBC has temporarily suspended the shutdown on the indebted broadcast stations in the country.

A statement by the Director General of the Commission Mallam Balarabe Ilelah says the decision followed a meeting the commission held with BON and other critical stakeholders in the industry.

Mallam Balarabe says following the recent shutdown notice; the commission received positive responses from the indebted licensees.

The NBC DG expresses profound appreciation to BON, the affected licensees, and broadcast stakeholders particularly DAAR Communications LTD and Silver Bird TV/Rhythm FM for their responses.

Mallam Balarabe says the Commission is not unaware of the difficulties the shutdown must have caused the operators and other stakeholders in the industry but insists that the commission will always operate within the NBC Act Cap N11, laws of the Federation 2004.

NBC had issued a shutdown notice to licensees that are indebted to the commission.
