The Zonal Commander, Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Michael Nzekwe says the commission will strengthen the existing collaboration with Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in tackling illegal mining and non-payment of royalties by miners in Kwara State.

Michael stated this while playing host to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Ibrahim Muhammed who paid a courtesy visit to the Commission’s Office in Ilorin.

He described the NSCDC as a strategic partner in the fight against corruption , adding that the Commisssion will seek the collaboration of the corps in the area of illegal mining.

Michael explained that as agencies of government, part of their responsibilities is to check corruption and preserve resources through which government generate revenue for the wellbeing of its citizenry.

He said the Commisssion will not sit back and watch people divert or pilfer what is meant for government to personal use.

In his remark, the Kwara state Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant Ibrahim Muhammed, commended the EFCC for promoting inter – agency synergy in the fight against corruption.
