Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says it is ready to mobilise its members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for a nationwide protest, Tuesday 26th, and Wednesday 27th July 2022, demanding the federal government resolve all issues that have kept the tertiary education closed.

The NLC stated that it will commence a three-day warning strike immediately after the protest and may have to go on indefinitely if the government fails to resolve the lingering issues.

NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba stated this in a statement on the ongoing 18th NLC Rain School, 2022, holding in Uyo, Akwa State says the protest is not a solidarity protest but a protest against government actions that have led to children remaining at home instead of going to school.

Comrade Wabba also expressed disappointment over what he termed the inability of Federal Government to control the persistent fall in the value of the nation’s currency which is hovering around ₦700 to $1.

The union leader however condemned the ever-rising cost of the standard of living; goods and services as a result of the fuel scarcity, making it very difficult for workers whose salaries are fixed and the masses to meet their basic needs.
