Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced vaccination of the 614 intending pilgrims ahead of their airlift to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj exercise.

The Director Oprations of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Dutse, the state capital.

According to him, the vaccination exercise which commenced on 4th June 2022, will prevent the pilgrims from contracting any disease during their movement to and from the state.

He said the inoculation exercise was a critical medical exercise that must be fulfilled by the intending pilgrims before embarking on the holy land.

Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo pointed out that, each intending pilgrim needed to get the complete doses of covid 19 vaccination and also reiterated the importance of the booster jab.

He noted that any intending pilgrim without the complete doses would be denied entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Labbo warned intending pilgrims who do not have the vaccination card and refused to be vaccinated would not be allowed to perform the hajj exercise as directed by the Saudi authorities.

He said that each of the state pilgrims would be administered oral polio, yellow fever and meningitis vaccines in line with the requirements for international travels to protect them against contagious diseases.

The Director of Operations commended the state government for the support and cooperation given to the board at all times.

Radio Nigeria reports that the Jigawa state government has secured a standard accommodation close to the Holy Mosque in Makka for its 614 intending pilgrims.
