The National Directorate Directorate of Employment NDE has commenced the disbursement of 11.5 million naira to two hundred and thirty eight entrepreneurs in Borno state. 

At a ceremony in Maiduguri, the NDE state Coordinator Mr. Zakari Kashim said beneficiaries are divided into three categories. 

They are the micro enterprise enhancement scheme,  start your own business and mature people programme. 

The Coordinator described the loan as a revolving fund whereby beneficiaries are expected to repay so that others could also benefit. 

“Two hundred and twenty eight petty traders will benefit from the micro enterprise scheme, seven graduates have accessed the start your own business while three people have been selected for the mature people programme which is specifically designed for retirees ” Mr Kashim said.

He called on the beneficiaries to judiciously use the fund for the purpose intended.

Head of small scale enterprises unit of the Directorate, Malam Usman Maidugu said the traders are selected from Monday market, Gamboru, Mairi, Biu and Kwaya Kusar markets.

According to him, each beneficiary under the micro scheme will receive twenty thousand naira, those for start your own business will get five hundred thousand naira while the mature programme will receive up to 1.5 million naira each.

Two of the beneficiaries Kaltum Modu and Bukar Kullima promised to expand their businesses to become employers of labour.
