Hajiya Hadiza Isma Elrufai

Wife of Kaduna state governor, Hajiya Hadiza Isma Elrufai has asked residents not to relent in reporting any suspected rape cases against their love ones to relavant authorities for necessary action.

She stated this while commissioning the State Woman transit Shelter in Barnawa, Kaduna.

Hajiya Hadiza Elrufai emphasized the need for adquate sensitisation of people on the need to promptly get evidence on issues related to rape and other child abuse.

She however urged parents to put aside stigma and take rape issue very serious.

Hajiya Hadiza Elrufai was of the view that, the transit Shelter being inaugurated would help women and children who were subjected to domestic violence to get support in many ways.

The wife of the governor, reaffirmed the state government commitment toward ensuring women and Children get all the needed justice.

In a remark, Kaduna state Commissioner for Women Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Baba said Kaduna state Women transit Shelter was established to ensure victims of rape and domestic violence were kept for a short period in order to access trauma counseling and other support.

She stressed that, the state government had approved 450 million naira to rehabilitate another big Women transit Shelter that would accommodate significant number of people.
