An infant is among 123 Nigerians evacuated from Ukraine, who have arrived in Abuja.
The evacuees were flown from Poland onboard Air Peace Flight, which landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 1:20 a.m. on Friday.
They were received by NEMA and other agencies under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.
Representatives from the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Nigerian Immigration Service, Port Health Services, and the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control were also present.
NEMA Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Edward Kolawole Adedokun, welcomed them back to the country and outlined the documentation procedures before they exited the airport.
Abdulrahman Terab, a representative of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, assured them that arrangements had been made to provide them with a transportation subsidy of USD$100 to their respective destinations.
So far, 1,199 Nigerians have been evacuated from Ukraine.
Apart from the latest batch, 415 had earlier flown in from Romania, 181 from Poland and 480 via Hungary.
The evacuation process started on Wednesday, March 2nd 2022
