Kwara state government says it will continue to place priority on women empowerment to enable them contribute to the growth and development of the state.

The state Commisssioner for communications, Mr. Olabode Towoju stated this while addressing Journalists at the NUJ press center in Ilorin.

He said it is through women empowerment that the society can develop.

According to him the state government has also renovated and constructed heath facilities to ensure safe motherhood in the state.

Mr Towoju said the state water works have been overhauled to ensure availability of portable drinking water for the residents.

The Commisssioner noted that the state government has embarked on massive road construction to support free movement of goods and services in the nooks and crannies of the state.

In his address the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Kwara state Council, Mallam Ahmed Abdulateef , said Journalists will will continue to perform their responsibility of informing and educating the general public.
