Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has pleaded not guilty to the 15 charges bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism, brought against him by the Federal Government.

He pleaded not guilty before Justice Binta Nyako when the case resumed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday.

Federal Government had filed fresh terrorism charges against the detained IPOB leader on Monday, as the action increased the initial counts against him from 7 to 15.

But during his trial on Tuesday, Kanu objected to the fresh charges, and the case was then adjourned till Wednesday for him to take his plea.

Meanwhile, the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, appeared before the court for his trial, with the same clothes he had been wearing since June last year when he was arrested.

The trial judge, Justice Nyako had ordered the Department of State Services, DSS, to allow Mazi Kanu to have a change of clothing.

When the matter came up, the Prosecution counsel, Shuaibu Labaran, told the court that Kanu was the one that chose to wear the same cloth because it was designer wear.

Mr Labaran, however, said that Defendant was given a new Orthopedic mattress, pillows, and blankets.

In his response, Mazi Kanu’s lead counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome, told the court that it was not true that his client insisted on wearing his designer clothes.

Chief Ozekhome however commended the DSS for providing the IPOB leader with new mattresses and pillows.

Mazi Kanu is currently entering his plea to the fresh amended 15 count charge against him bordering on acts of terrorism, felony, incitement, unlawful importation of a radio transmitter, and headship of an illegal organization.
