Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi, Minister of Defence

Federal Government says it would continue to accord priority to the training and welfare of Armed forces personnel towards protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari gave the assurance in a message at the graduation ceremony of senior course forty-three held at the Armed forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Kaduna State.

Represented by the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi retired, the President explained that the last twelve years have been challenging considering the plethora of security threats that have besieged the country.

He maintained that the Armed forces is working tirelessly to enhance its combat effectiveness, operational capacity and training necessary to eliminate threats in synergy with other institutions and nations.

The President pointed out that the federal government is poised to promote national security and development, as well as remain committed to promoting security, safety, just, peaceful, prosperous and secured nation.

President Buhari assured that government shall utilize all elements of national power to ensure peaceful co-existence, national unity and sustainable development.

He commended the Armed forces for containing security challenges, as well as activities of separatists and armed militias among others.

Earlier, Commandant of the College, Air Vice Marshal Ebenezer Alade explained that the forty-eight week intense training and academic activities was designed to equip the officers with appropriate skills to prepare them for higher responsibilities.

This according to the Commandant was done by developing their command, analytical and communication skills through broad understanding of single service, joint and combined operations and defence as a whole.

Air Vice Marshal Alade assured that the college shall continue to improve on the training facilities and infrastructures in order to enhance the international status of the college.

A total of Two Hundred and Twenty-six officers graduated after undergoing a forty-eight week training.
