In continuation of the celebration of Army Day, the Nigerian Army have embarked on a free medical outreach at Sifawa in Tambuwal and Dange Shuni Local governments of Sokoto State.
Speaking at the flagging off of the exercise, General Officer Commanding Eight Division Nigerian Army, Major general Usman Yusuf said the treatment was aimed at promoting military Civilian relationship as part of their cooperate social responsibilities function to the area.
The GOC who was represented by the Garrison Commander, brigadier general Ralf Nnebeife said the medical services covered, testing and treatment of malaria, hypertension, eye treatment, provision of eye glasses, dental services, diabetes screening and pediatric services.
He explained that the medical outreach would last for two days, stressing that they had procured adequate drugs that would be enough for everyone who turns up for the exercise.
According to him, About three thousand people are expected to benefit from the exercise and the dilapidated Sifawa village health centre would be given a facelift by the Nigerian army.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the district head of Sifawa, Buhari Tambari, thanked the Army for the kind gesture, appealing to them to extend same to other communities in the state.
