The Special Assistant to the Kebbi State Governor on New Media, Abuzaidu Abubakar Yari, has empowered 250 women and youths from his immediate community with ₦10,000 each to support their businesses.

Flagging off the distribution exercise at Makera/Illela in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, the State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Chika, said the total fund increased to ₦6.9 million following donations from philanthropists.

The commissioner, who was the special guest at the event, sponsored an additional 200 beneficiaries, while the son of the state governor, Anas Nasir Idris, donated ₦2 million. Alhaji Ghazali Hassan Maccido and Alhaji Abubakar Tuleje also contributed funds to support 40 more beneficiaries.

He commended the Special Assistant for initiating the programme, saying that the gesture is in consonance with the policy thrust of Governor Nasir Idris that made it incumbent on politicians and public office holders to offer desired assistance to their people to engage in trade and commerce.

The Commissioner further explained that, government is grateful to the people of Kebbi for their support and urge all and sundry to sustain such popular support, assuring that this administration will continue to deliver democratic dividends to all nooks and crannies of the state.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Special Assistant to the governor on New Media, Abuzaidu Abubakar Yari said he initiated the program to compliment Governor Nasir Idris’s efforts towards improving the lives of people of the and to empower them improve the economic standard of the people of the area.

Abuzaidu also assured to expand the program so as to accommodate more people and urged those benefits from the gesture to use it judiciously.

In their separate remarks, Malam Zayyanu Umar and Malama Kulu Aliyu commended the efforts of the initiator and assured to use the gesture judiciously and pray for the success of the present administration in kebbi and the nation at large
