Niger State Police Command has arrested seventy one suspects for committing various offences in parts of state ranging from armed robbery, thuggery, kidnapping, motorcycle theft, POS fraud, culpable homicide, forgery, fake NIN and voters cards in parts of the state among others in July this year.
Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger state, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman stated this while addressing Newsmen at the Dutsen kura police headquarters Minna, on the achievements of the Command for the month of July.
CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman said of the number of suspects arrested six of them were engaged in criminal conspiracy, armed robbery,, kidnapping and culpable homicide and have recovered ten AK 47 and AK rifles, based on reports of incessant kidnapping on Garam, Chachi, Ijah-Gwari, Ijah-koro, Gauraka, and Kaduna road within the early period of this year.
According to him the police in Niger state has recorded a breakthrough against child child trafficking with the arrest of two suspects involved in trafficking and illegal movement of children between the age of seven and thirteen and the suspects arrested were Dauda Ayuba of Sanchi village Kafin- koro of Paikoro Local Government Area and Mary Anthony thirty seven years of Gbeganu area was also found with three female children, and all the victims have been re united with their parents, while investigation are ongoing.
Adamu Abdullahi Elleman however said they have recovered three cartons of tramadol, and two bags of cannabis, in addition to the recovery of four cow, and three motorcycles, sixteen cutlasses and two knives within the period under review and thanked the Inspector General of Police IGP, Tunji Disu for the support and creating an enabling environment for officers and men of Nigerian police to thrive.
He said a forty two years Mohammed Aiyu Baba of Anguwan Sarki, in Munya Local Government Area was arrested for forgery and fraud, fake NIN and Voters card where he is said to have realized three million naira as proceed of the crime.
Adamu Abdullahi Elleman added that two suspects have been arrested for abduction of a child and a baby rescued in Minna the state capital, on which Chidi Johnson A K A Yaron Pastor of Abdulsalam quarters and Zainab Ibrahim of Alagbado Minna were arrested and the suspects will be charged to courts as soon as investigation is completed.
