The Nasarawa State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Alhaji Hudu Baba Abdullahi, has appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to clear the backlog of their gratuity, pension, and arrears of the percentage payment during the immediate past administration of Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura.

The State NUP Chairman made the appeal during an interview with newsmen in Lafia, the state capital.

Alhaji Hudu Baba Abdullahi said Governor Abdullahi Sule had promised to settle all outstanding gratuity, pension and arrears incurred during the administration of former Governor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura.

According to Hudu Baba,” As a matter of fact, I was filled with joy when I heard the Governor saying that before he leaves office, he is not going to leave any outstanding arrears.

“I use this opportunity to remind the Governor that we have series of pending issues before him. One, is the clearance of the backlog of gratuity for the both state and local government areas.

“Also the payment of fifty per cent (50%), of pension during his predecessor, Al-Makura.”

He noted that under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration, the pensioners have been receiving their pension and gratuity as at when due without any delay worth billions of naira.

Alhaji Hudu Baba explained that, he created a multipurpose cooperative society to his members “so that at least when you are contributing, and if you are facing financial challenge, maybe in terms of school fees, health-wise, you can come and borrow.”

He, however, said Governor Abdullahi Sule, would be remembered for the good thing he has done and still doing for the pensioners in Nasarawa State.
