As the world records a resurgence of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Jigawa State says it is working closely with relevant authorities, particularly the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre, to sensitise the public on precautionary measures against the deadly disease.
The State Director, Alhaji Ahmad Ibrahim, stated this when he led a team on a visit to the office of the Jigawa State Epidemiologist in Dutse.
He said that although nigeria has not recorded any case of Ebola, proactive measures are essential to mitigate any potential outbreak.
Alhaji Ahmad Ibrahim pointed out that, the agency is planning a statewide public awareness campaign targeting markets, motor parks, health facilities, schools, and other public places.
He added that traditional and religious leaders will also be engaged to key into the sensitization drive.
Responding, the Jigawa state Epidemiologist, Malam Ismaila Mamuda, who received the NOA team, confirmed that as of 3rd June 2026, no single case of Ebola has been recorded in Nigeria.
Isma’ila Mamuda however noted that the centre has been alerted by the NCDC to activate non-pharmaceutical interventions, including sensitization and community engagement, as cases persist in other parts of the world.
