The Emir of Kauru, His Royal Highness Zakari Ya’u II, has called on residents of Kauru Emirate in Kaduna State to promote peace, remain vigilant on security matters and participate actively in civic responsibilities for sustainable development.
The monarch made the call in his Eid-el-Kabir message delivered on Wednesday, corresponding with 10th Dhul-Hijjah 1446AH.
Zakari Ya’u II urged residents not to relent in supporting security efforts despite the gradual return of peace to the area, stressing that security remained a collective responsibility.
He also appealed to parents to intensify efforts in instilling the values of peaceful coexistence and good moral upbringing in their children, describing peace as the foundation of societal growth and development.
On healthcare, the Emir advised residents to maintain proper hygiene, keep their environment clean and seek prompt medical attention whenever they fall sick.
He further encouraged pregnant women to attend antenatal care and urged the public to embrace immunisation programmes.
The traditional ruler also highlighted the importance of birth and death registration, national identity card enrolment and voter registration, noting that accurate population records would assist government in providing social amenities and developmental projects.
Speaking on politics, the Emir warned youths against political thuggery and hate politics, urging them to embrace peaceful political participation and respect for differing opinions.

He encouraged eligible voters to participate in future elections peacefully, stressing that voting remained a constitutional right and a pathway to good governance.
On recurring clashes between farmers and herders, Zakari Ya’u II cautioned both groups against actions capable of triggering conflict.
He urged farmers to respect cattle routes while calling on herders to properly control their livestock to prevent destruction of farmlands.
The Emir warned that anyone found engaging in acts of destruction would face prosecution, adding that the Emirate Council remained committed to preventing conflicts between farmers and herders.
He commended the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani for ongoing infrastructural projects and efforts aimed at restoring peace in Kauru Local Government Area.
Zakari Ya’u II appealed to the state government to support farmers with fertilisers, pesticides and improved seedlings, fulfill its promise of providing electricity to the area, and construct key roads within Kauru town and surrounding communities.

Speaking, the Secretary of the Emirate, Muhammad Sani Suleiman (Danburam), said that the Emir appreciated the Chairman of Kauru Local Government, Bashir Tanko Dawaki, for his contributions toward the development of the area.
Danburam Kauru also prayed for peaceful Eid celebrations and asked Allah to accept the worship and sacrifices of the Muslim faithful.
