President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted his nomination as the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2027 general election, pledging to consolidate ongoing reforms and strengthen democratic governance in the country.
The President stated this during his acceptance speech at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja after receiving the party’s flag and certificate as the APC presidential flag bearer.
President Tinubu described the moment as another milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey and thanked party leaders, governors, lawmakers and members of the APC for their support and confidence in his leadership.
The President said continuity was necessary to consolidate reforms, secure economic progress and strengthen the foundation of a modern Nigeria.
President Tinubu highlighted achievements recorded by his administration in the areas of education, power, infrastructure and economic reforms.
He said the Nigerian Education Loan Fund had disbursed over two hundred and eighty-two billion naira to more than one point five million beneficiaries to improve access to higher education.
On power, the President explained that the administration had supplied about two point five million meters through the Presidential Metering Initiative and introduced measures to strengthen the electricity sector.
President Tinubu also noted that his administration had undertaken major reforms in the oil and gas sector, transportation, digital connectivity and infrastructure development to stimulate economic growth and attract investment.
The President acknowledged the economic and security challenges facing the country, assuring Nigerians that his administration would continue to address rising costs of living and insecurity across parts of the nation.
He reiterated his support for constitutional amendments to allow the establishment of state police as part of efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
President Tinubu called on Nigerians to remain united and support efforts aimed at building a more secure, prosperous and inclusive country.
He also urged political opponents and stakeholders to embrace dialogue and national cooperation in the interest of democratic stability and development.
