Chairman of the Northern Christian Association (NCA), Reverend John Joseph Hayab, has called on Nigerians to embrace the fear of God, peaceful coexistence, and mutual understanding as essential pillars for national unity and sustainable development.
Reverend Hayab stated this during the dedication of a church Auditorium, Amazing Grace Baptist Church Gonin Gora where he said promoting the fear of God also means creating an enabling environment for people to worship freely and live together in peace regardless of religious differences.
He noted that Muslim leaders, including traditional rulers and Imams, attended the church dedication and stayed throughout the service, describing the development as a strong message of religious harmony and tolerance needed in Nigeria.
According to him, building churches and mosques alone would not guarantee progress if citizens failed to live peacefully with one another, stressing the need to leave behind a legacy of love, sacrifice and unity for future generations.
The Chairman also urged political leaders to fear God, be truthful and lead by example, warning that selfishness, greed and manipulation among leaders were sending wrong signals to young people.
He said manipulation should never be mistaken for success because it often leads to destruction and shame.
Reverend Hayab thanked friends and well-wishers across religious and political divides for supporting him, stressing that national unity and personal relationships should rise above party affiliation and religious differences.
