The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, Usman Bello Kankara, has called for stronger synergy between the media and security agencies in Nigeria.
Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara made the call when he led the newly elected officials of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Katsina State Council, on a courtesy visit to the Area Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service in Katsina State.
According to him, stronger collaboration between the media, the Nigeria Customs Service, and other security agencies would promote national development and strengthen border security across the country.
Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, who is a retired Customs Comptroller and Patron of the NUJ, accompanied the newly elected NUJ Executive Council led by the Chairman, Aminu Dandagoro, to formally introduce the new leadership to the command.
The monarch congratulated the Customs Area Controller, Mohammed Sai’du Musa, on his recent promotion and posting to the Katsina State Command, describing the elevation as well-deserved.
He also urged the controller to intensify anti-smuggling operations to ensure maximum revenue generation for the government.
The NUJ Chairman, Comrade Aminu Dandagoro, aligned himself with the remarks of the patron and assured the command of the union’s commitment to responsible journalism and accurate reporting.
In his response, Mohammed Sai’du Musa welcomed the delegation and pledged to maintain an open-door policy with the media to ensure effective service delivery in the state.
The Customs Area Controller expressed delight at seeing his former boss, Kanwan Katsina, among the delegation and appreciated his words of advice and encouragement.
