Abubakar Badaru Jikamshi, Surajo Abdu-Kwaskwaro and Usman Bashir were among contestants who emerged winners in the just-concluded Katsina State House of Assembly primaries conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 34 constituencies in the state.

The APC flag bearers, who emerged through consensus, were presented with the party tickets during affirmation rallies held at the headquarters of the various constituencies in the state.

In the affirmation rally held in Musawa Local Government Area, the Chairman of the Consensus Committee, Alhaji Aliyu Idris, declared that Abubakar Badaru Jikamshi, having satisfied all the requirements to represent the constituency at the State House of Assembly, was collectively endorsed by party stakeholders in the area.

He said Jikamshi, who had excelled in various public service and political positions throughout his career, had demonstrated competence, honesty and commitment to serving the people.

In Kaita constituency, party stakeholders unanimously adopted Surajo Abdu-Kwaskwaro, the incumbent member representing the constituency in the State House of Assembly, as the consensus candidate to fly the party’s flag in the general elections.

Announcing the stakeholders’ decision, the Chairman of the Consensus Committee, Alhaji Bello Lawal, said Abdu-Kwaskwaro was returned based on his proven competence and commitment to providing quality representation for the constituency.

He commended other aspirants for their maturity and sportsmanship in embracing the consensus arrangement and urged them to support the candidate and work with other party members toward securing victory in the general elections.

Similarly, Usman Bashir was adopted as the candidate for Batagarawa constituency, Mustafa Tukur Ruma for Batsari, Yahaya Nuhu for Dandume and Suleiman Nuhu-Kuki for Dutsinma constituency, among others.
