Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to establish Computer-Based Test (CBT)/ICT centres across all 44 local government areas to align with the new national examination policy for WAEC and NECO.
The resolution followed deliberations during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Falgore.
The motion was moved by the member representing Madobi Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Mukhtar Ishaq.
He noted that the new national policy mandates computer-based examinations, stressing the urgent need to equip students with adequate ICT skills.
According to him, establishing ICT centres across the state would help bridge the digital divide and better prepare students in both urban and rural communities for CBT-based examinations.
The motion was seconded by Ali Lawan, representing Shanono/Bagwai constituency, who described it as timely and necessary.
In a another development, the House also urged the state government to complete electrification projects in Garun Madadi and Yarguruza communities in Gwarzo Local Government Area.
The motion was presented by Yunusa Haruna, who emphasized that significant investments had already been made and completion would help address persistent power challenges.
Supporting the motion, Sule Lawan Shuwaki, representing Tudun Wada, said completing the project would boost economic activities in the area.
The Assembly also received a report on the accounts of the Rano Emirate Council covering 2023–2024, and adopted motions for the rehabilitation of Buda Dam in Garko and road construction in Makoda.
