The Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State has matriculated 1,450 students for the 2025/2026 academic session,

 

Addressing the gathering, the Rector of the Polytechnic,  Dr. Aminu Yusuf, highlighted the decisive steps taken to secure the institution and ensure a peaceful learning environment.

 

Dr. Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the institution’s security architecture, stressing that peace remains the bedrock of academic excellence.

 

He noted that, the management of the institution had intensified collaboration with security agencies to safeguard lives and property, by ensuring that teaching and learning thrive without disruption.

 

The Rector disclosed that part of the efforts includes the engagement of military personnel and other security operatives, as well as strengthening the capacity of local security guards.

 

Dr. Aminu Yusuf added that the institution recently completed a 2.5-kilometre perimeter fence project funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund), a move he described as critical to maintaining the peaceful atmosphere the polytechnic has consistently enjoyed.

 

Highlighting achievements under his leadership, Dr. Yusuf revealed that the institution has also completed the Department of Nutrition building and recorded about 80 percent progress on its ICT centre.

 

He further commended the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for the accreditation 38 programmes across various departments within his first year in office.

 

He expressed appreciation to key stakeholders, including the Zamfara State Government for constructing a modern hostel, and Abdulmalik Zubairu (Alumnus) for providing five motorised boreholes to support water supply on campus and provision of AI Library.

 

The Rector also acknowledged the continued support of the Kaura Namoda Emirate Council and the Federal Government for infrastructural and human capital development through Tetfund.

 

Dr. Yusuf also called on the Federal Government for increased intervention in infrastructure and capital projects, emphasizing the institution’s growing needs.

 

The Rector urged the newly admitted students to remain disciplined and law-abiding, warning against involvement in social vices such as cultism, examination malpractice, internet fraud, and other forms of misconduct.

 

He encouraged them to uphold the values of the institution and act as responsible ambassadors both on campus and within their host communities.

 

The colourful 38th matriculation ceremony, held at the main campus, drew prominent dignitaries, including the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Dr Sanusi Mohammed Ahmad Asha, alongside deans, heads of departments, and lecturers.
