President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to strengthen Nigeria’s law enforcement system through increased investment in police training, intelligence gathering and modern policing infrastructure.
The President made this known at the 2026 National Police Day Grand Parade and Procession held in Abuja, where he was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He stressed that no nation can achieve meaningful development without a secure environment.
President Tinubu said the Federal Government remains committed to transforming the Nigeria Police Force into a well-equipped, highly trained and motivated institution capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
He noted that the country has a moral obligation to support security agencies, emphasizing that national peace and stability depend largely on the effectiveness of those entrusted with protecting lives and property.
In his remarks, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, said the force is committed to addressing public concerns and improving service delivery through discipline, accountability and intelligence-led policing.
