The Wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has described the inauguration of the Board of Trustees and the official launch of the National Community Food Bank Trust Fund at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting as timely, impactful, and highly responsive to the current socio-economic realities facing many Nigerian households.

In a statement by her Press Secretary, Rabi Yusuf said the initiative, spearheaded by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, represents a strategic national response to food insecurity and a commitment to improving access to nutritious food for vulnerable populations across the country.

Speaking at the event, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal noted that the programme goes beyond addressing hunger, emphasizing its role in restoring dignity and fostering hope through a sustainable, community-driven framework.

Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal further highlighted that, the objectives of the Trust Fund strongly align with the development priorities of the Zamfara State Government, particularly in strengthening local food systems, empowering small holder farmers and enhancing nutrition outcomes for women and children.

The Wife of the Governor expressed confidence in the potential of the initiative to drive meaningful grassroots transformation through strategic partnerships, public awareness and targeted interventions aimed at reducing malnutrition.

She also commended the vision, leadership and commitment of the organisers, reaffirming Zamfara State’s readiness to collaborate, adopt best practices and scale innovative programmes that will deliver lasting socio-economic benefits to its people.
