The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued and arrested two suspects in connection with abduction of a three day old baby boy.

A statement issued to newsmen by the Police Public Relation Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel said, one Aisha Bada, a resident of Unguwan Bako, Orange market, Mararaba in Karu local government area reported at the police station that unknown persons had abducted her newborn baby boy.

The statement, states that her husband, Abubakar Isah, a commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) rider, was in Lagos for business five months ago.

According to the statement, while she was asleep with her newborn baby in her uncompleted building located at the outskirts of Unguwan Bako, Orange market, two unidentified men broke into the house, threatened her with violent instruments and abducted the baby to an unknown destination.

It says upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed directed detectives of Mararaba ‘A’ division to immediately visit the scene, and ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.

Acting on credible intelligence, Police Operatives arrested two suspects: Furera Abdulrahman, of Rugan Juli, and Sadiya Abdullahi, of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market while the abducted baby boy was found in their possession and successfully rescued.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and implicated an accomplice who is currently at large, who carry out the abduction, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

The rescued baby was immediately taken to the Medical Centre, Mararaba, where he was examined by a medical doctor, certified to be in good health, and subsequently discharged. The child has since been reunited with his parents.

The case is currently under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for further discreet investigation upon completion of preliminary inquiries.
