The ancient town of Kaura Namoda Emirate in Zamfara State came alive with colour, culture and royal splendour on Day Three of the Sallah celebrations, as the Emir, Sanusi Mohammed Ahmad Asha, led the much-anticipated Hawan Durbar procession moving round the town.
The Emir mounted on a richly adorned horse and surrounded by title holders, loyal subjects, and various groups, rode through the major streets, displaying heritage and communal pride.
The atmosphere drew large crowds of residents men, women, youths and children who trooped out to witness the historic Durbar, chanting praises and offering greetings as the royal procession passed.
During the procession, horsemen in colourful regalia showcased impressive riding skills, while traditional drummers and praise singers added value and excitement to the event.
The Hawan Durbar provided an opportunity for the Emir to connect directly with his people, reaffirm his leadership and strengthen the bond between the palace and the community.
It also served as a platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the area, attract visitors and promote local pride.
Speaking during the event, Emir Sanusi Mohammed Asha urged residents to uphold unity, respect for tradition and peaceful coexistence.
He also reaffirmed the importance of traditional institutions in promoting cultural continuity and social cohesion.
The procession ended at the Emir’s palace amid cheers and prayers for continued peace and prosperity in the emirate and beyond.
