People residing in the interior villages near Kainji Lake located in two Local Government Councils of Borgu and Agwara in Niger State have been advised to vacate immediately and return to Agwara, New Bussa and Kontagora to celebrate the Eid el fitr.
Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger State, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman gave the advice in Minna, in response to the approval of their relocation to safer ground by Governor Umar Bago on the request by security agencies.
Adamu Elleman explained the move would enable the Police concentrate their efforts in a particular place for effective policing, in safeguarding their lives and properties, considering the shortage of manpower at their disposal.
He said Governor Umar Bago has also promised to provide them with the needed social amenities in such areas to have a conducive atmosphere and enjoy a memorable stay before returning to their ancestral homes.
Adamu Elleman however expressed satisfaction that the current approval to recruit fifty thousand additional Police officers in the country would no doubt helped to reduce the problem of inadequate manpower that would enhance effective service delivery.
The Commissioner of Police who said similar recruitment is going on in the Departments of State Services DSS and Nigerian Army expressed confidence that in the next two to three years they will have enough Personnel to achieve the desired objective.
