The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kano State Command, has successfully contained a fire outbreak at a truck sales yard, preventing the loss of property valued at approximately N560 million.
The State Controller, Kazeem Sholadoye disclosed this in a statement signed by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Al-Hassan Kantin.
According to the statement, the fire affected a truck sales yard where vehicles were displayed for sale.
He said, the area, measuring about 30.48 by 60 metres, was successfully confined to a single truck head.
“Preliminary findings suggest that the blaze was caused by suspected bush burning”.
Kazeem pointed out that, the swift response and professionalism of the firefighters, property worth N560 million was saved, while estimated losses were put at N70 million.
The State Commander hinted that, firefighters, working in collaboration with personnel from the State Fire Service Headquarters at Kofar Nasarawa, brought the fire under control using two medium jets of water and conducted a thorough inspection to ensure there was no further risk.
He advised the public to exercise caution, particularly with bush burning, to prevent avoidable fire incidents.
