Federal Government has flagged off the distribution of food and nutrition assistance to citizens in Plateau State.
The move, which is been undertaken by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation is aimed at assisting citizens adjust to the economic situation currently bedevilling the nation.
The event which held at the Government House Little Rayfield Jos, attracted individuals across religious and political divide.
In view of the economic reforms and its consequent effects on the citizenry, the Federal Government decided to embark on a nation wide distribution of some basic food items to help cushion its effects.
Consequently, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty reduction was saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the gesture becomes a reality.
Speaking at the flag off in Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang emphasized that the initiative by President Bola Tinubu was aimed at cushioning the economic hardship faced by people in the State.

He commended the Federal Government on the move and appreciated the confidence bestowed on indigenes of the state to handle such sensitive and tasking assignments.
On his part, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty reduction Bernard Doro noted that natural and man made disasters have significantly added strains to the livelihood of citizens, hence the need for such interventions.

He appealed to beneficiaries whom he described as the most vulnerable in the society to take advantage of the gestures to improve their livelihood.
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Professor Nentawe Yilwatda identified social protection as one of the cardinal points of the APC led government, hence the continuous efforts by the Government towards ensuring that such protections are created to ensure continuity and survival of the less privileged.
Highpoint of the event was the Distribution of assorted food stuff to individuals which included 25kg of rice and beans, palm oil, groundnut oil, seasonings amongst others.
