The International Society of Media in Public Health, in consortium partnership with EngenderHealth, has convened a one-day Capacity Building and Alignment Meeting for coalitions of media networks in Kaduna State, aimed at strengthening collaboration and enhancing coordinated health advocacy across the state.
The meeting, held on 17th February 2026 brought together key media stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for promoting government accountability and amplifying evidence-based reporting, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable populations.
In her goodwill message, the Chief Executive Officer of ISMPH, Dr. Moji Makonjuala, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to building strong and effective media coalitions across Nigeria.
She emphasized that ISMPH remains dedicated to supporting journalists and media networks with the tools and partnerships needed to drive impactful public health communication. Dr. Makonjuala further disclosed her intention to visit Kaduna State soon to deepen engagement with media stakeholders and strengthen ongoing initiatives.
Delivering the welcome address, the Program Director, Solomon Dogo, underscored the importance of unity among media coalitions in addressing public health challenges. He noted that coordinated media advocacy is critical to ensuring that health policies and programs are responsive to community needs, especially among underserved groups.
A major highlight of the meeting was the nomination of a new team to oversee the affairs of the media coalition in Kaduna State. Garba Mohamed emerged as Chairman of the coalition, alongside other members tasked with steering the coalition’s activities toward greater synergy and impact.
Participants described the meeting as timely and strategic, expressing optimism that the strengthened collaboration would enhance the quality, consistency, and reach of health-focused media advocacy in Kaduna State.
