Twenty six out of the thirty six states in Nigeria cannot pay salaries of its staff without allocation from the Federation Account.
Minister Of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris stated this while delivering the thirty fourth pre Convocation lecture of the Federal University of Technology Minna, titled Youth and Nations Building Navigating Opportunities In an era of National reforms.
Mohammed Idris who used the fora to justify the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been yielding positive results maintained that there is no state Governor in Nigeria that cannot pay salary due to problem of insufficient funds, as they are now receiving double if not thrice of the allocation they have been getting from this administration.
According every state now have enough to plan, and correct the misconception of arbitrary deduction arisen from the current taxation, saying that it was meant to simplify taxation, to make for more resources for states and local governments to invest in infrastructure and other social amenities.
While portraying the positive result of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reforms agenda, Mohammed Idris explained that Nigeria has became the destination attraction for oil and gas, while on NELFUND he said over one hundred and seventy four billion naira has been disbursed as tuition fees and monthly upkeep allowances.
He said with the right education skilling and preparation for the rapidly transforming work spaces of twenty first century, Nigeria will be an unstoppable global force in the arts, sciences technology and innovation, and advised the graduands to take advantage of opportunities provided by President Tinubu led administration to thrive.
In his welcome address the Vice Chancellor Federal University of Technology Minna, Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta described the title of the lecture as apt, coming when the Federal Government is doing its best to enhance the living condition of Nigerian youth.
