Federal Government has been urged to reorganise Pension Fund Administrators to alleviate the suffering of retired workers across the country.

Retirees of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Kaduna, made the appeal following the alleged failure of pension managers, PENCOM and PTAD to settle their entitlements last year despite several assurances.

The retirees also expressed concern over the non-payment of COVID-19 palliatives and funds linked to fuel subsidy removal, currently under investigation by the House of Representatives and estimated at over one hundred billion naira.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Alhaji Suleiman Yahaya, Abdulmumni Bebeji and Ibrahim Muhammad said only a comprehensive reorganisation of the pension system could address the socio-economic challenges faced by senior citizens and justify their years of service and sacrifice.

A public affairs analyst, Alhaji Salisu Abdullahi Funtua, described the conduct of the current pension managers as unethical and inhumane, calling for appropriate sanctions to serve as a deterrent.
