Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a series of major projects aimed at boosting infrastructure, agriculture, education, energy, and economic development across the state.

The commissioner for information, youth, sports and culture Sagir Musa Ahmed revealed this in a statement issued to newsmen after the council meeting.

He council has approved the rehabilitation of three strategic dams—Dembo, Kuda and Hayin Warde—at a total cost of over ₦10.8 billion.

The project is expected to expand irrigation infrastructure, enable year-round farming, enhance food security, create jobs, and increase farmers’ incomes.

Similarly, the council has approved the supply of Pathway Organic Fertiliser valued at about ₦225 million.

The initiative is designed to promote climate-smart agriculture, improve soil health, support sustainable farming practices, and protect the environment.

Additionally, the council has granted approval for the rehabilitation of six strategic roads and the procurement of road maintenance equipment for the Jigawa Road Maintenance Agency, JIRMA, at a cost of over ₦9.43 billion.

The roads include the Roundabout–General Hospital Bulangu–Kafin Hausa Road, Dubantu and Gawuna–Hadejia Road, Yalo–Unguwar Jibril feeder roads, Sakwaya–Rurum–Kudai Road, Kazaure–Roni–Takwardawa Road, and Gantsa–Tijiyo–Ahoto feeder road.

The Council further approved about ₦693.6 million for the construction of Local Government Education Authority secretariat offices in Dutse, Ringim, and Kafin Hausa.
In the education sector, the Council approved over ₦14.1 billion for construction, renovation, and procurement of equipment at the Federal College of Agriculture, Kirikasamma, and the Federal College of Education, Birniwa.

Meanwhile, the Council approved over ₦1.24 billion for 2025 constituency projects, covering the construction of mosques, district head houses, solar installations, generators, fencing, and interlocking works across various constituencies.

Sagir Musa says these approvals underscore the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, economic growth, and improved service delivery across the state.
