Victims of banditry attacks in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have received relief materials through the intervention of the Senator representing the Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung.
About one thousand victims benefited from the intervention, with relief items valued at millions of naira.
The materials were handed over to the leadership of the Kauru Local Government Community Development Associations (CDAs) Forum for onward distribution to affected communities.
Presenting the items to representatives of communities across the three chiefdoms and the Emirate in Damakasuwa, the Chairman of the Kauru Local Government CDAs Forum, Dr. Billy Ishaya La’ah, said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the hardship faced by victims following the attacks.
Dr. La’ah expressed concern over the persistent insecurity in the area, which he said has led to the loss of lives and destruction of property.
He called for more proactive measures to secure communities against frequent attacks.
Commending Senator Katung for coming to the aid of the victims, the CDAs Chairman explained that the items were distributed based on the severity of attacks and the number of affected persons in each community.
He added that each beneficiary would receive not less than three items and urged community representatives to ensure the materials reach the intended beneficiaries.

The items include mattresses, mats, towels, detergents, soap, buckets, pots and other cooking utensils.
Dr. La’ah also advised residents to remain security conscious and report any suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, representatives from Chawai, Kumana chiefdoms and Kauru Emirate thanked Senator Marshall Katung for the intervention, describing it as heartwarming.
