Panic briefly gripped the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, on Sunday when a private jet operated by Flybird Airlines crash-landed while arriving at the airport.

Eyewitnesses told Radio Nigeria in Kano that the aircraft, which came in from Abuja, experienced difficulty during landing and crash-landed on the runway

The jet was said to be carrying eleven persons, including three crew members.

Emergency procedures were immediately activated as passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft. Airport officials also moved in to maintain order and ensure security around the area. No injury or loss of life was reported.

Sources at the airport said the affected section of the runway was cordoned off to prevent further risk, while fire and rescue services were deployed as part of safety measures.

Activities at the airport were temporarily disrupted as investigations began to determine the cause of the incident.

Officials were seen inspecting the aircraft and the runway for possible technical or operational issues.

As at the time of filing this report, Flybird Airlines and airport authorities had not issued an official statement, while investigations were ongoing.

Normal operations have since resumed at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
