The Jama’a Emirate Council in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State has conferred the traditional title of “Majikiran Jama’a” on Senator Danjuma Tella Laah.

Speaking during the coronation ceremony at the Emir’s Palace in Kafanchan, the Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Muhammadu Isah Muhammadu, said the title was bestowed on the former senator in recognition of his track record, as well as his passion for peace, unity, and the progress of the entire emirate.

He noted that, Senator Laah has been instrumental to the development of Southern Kaduna and the Jama’a Emirate in particular through various initiatives and policies during his two terms in the Senate.

The Emir urged him to use the traditional title to further promote peace, unity, and development within the emirate, the senatorial district, and the nation at large.

Shortly after the turbaning ceremony, Senator Laah expressed gratitude to the traditional council for finding him worthy of the honour.

He called on the people of Southern Kaduna to set aside their differences and embrace love and unity for the growth of the region.

The former senator lamented that long-standing divisions have contributed to the region’s stagnation and stressed the need for unity regardless of ethnic or religious differences.

According to the new Majikiran Jama’a, no society can progress in an atmosphere of rancour, saying that only love and unity can bring meaningful development.

The Shettima Kagoro added that God makes no mistakes in bringing people together, noting that everything He does is in His wisdom.

Senator Laah expressed optimism that God remains with the people of Southern Kaduna, considering how he has continued to protect and uplift them.

Appreciating the Jama’a Emirate for the honour, Senator Laah attributed the recognition to God Almighty and thanked the people of Southern Kaduna and political associates present.

“I am not the only child of Southern Kaduna, but it seems my people love me even more than I love them. Today, I am short of words and don’t know how to express my joy before you.

“I pray that we shall continue to remain together in good times and in bad. We have had many differences in Southern Kaduna, but my plea from today onward is that these differences should stop.

“I don’t care whether you are Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, or whatever ethnicity, I want us to be the same irrespective of tribe and religion,” he said.

In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani represented by the Jarman Zazzau, Muktar Shehu Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of traditional institutions in promoting peace and development.

He called on traditional leaders to see themselves as partners in progress and urged the people of Kaduna State to embrace peace for socio-economic growth.

Earlier, the Emir of Jamm’a Alhaji Muhammadu Isah Muhammadu commended Governor Uba Sani for his inclusive leadership style, which he said has brought peace, unity, and economic progress to the state.

Also conferred with traditional titles at the Emir’s Palace were the former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Dallatun Zazzau, as Sardaunan Jama’a, and Barrister Deborah Usman as Jarumar Jama’a.
