The Zamfara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening nomadic education and addressing the growing challenge of out-of-school children across the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Suleman Ahmad Tudu.

The SSG, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, made the commitment while receiving the management of the Zamfara State Agency for Nomadic Education in his office.

Nakwada stressed that, education remains one of the most effective tools for preventing criminality, lamented that if previous administrations and stakeholders had prioritised education, the state would be in a better position today.

He expressed concern over the rising number of out-of-school children and urged the Ministry of Education to intensify efforts to address the challenge.

The delegation, led by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Malam Wadatau Madawaki, during the visit 23 individuals were presented with awards of excellence for their outstanding contributions to the agency’s mandate.

The meeting was also attended by the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Alhaji Sanusi Ahmad Asha; the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru; leaders of the Fulani community; and other key stakeholders.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Agency for Nomadic Education, Alhaji Bala Tafida, commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his commitment to enhancing the quality of education and for the continuous support given to the agency toward fulfilling its mandate.

The agency, charged with the responsibility of providing quality basic education to nomadic communities, currently manages 108 nomadic schools across Zamfara State, with an enrolment of 6,412 pupils 2,017 of whom are girls, representing 31.5%.
