The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state, including Federal Government-owned schools, following rising security concerns.

Information and Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Usman said in a statement that the decision was made after wide consultations with security agencies and other stakeholders.

He explained that the move was to protect students, teachers and school communities amid growing threats.

According to the statement, the government regrets the inconvenience the closure may cause, but the safety of children remains its top priority.

The government urged parents, guardians and school owners to remain calm and cooperate with authorities, stressing that security operatives were working round the clock to restore normalcy. It also called on residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities.

The State Ministry of Education has said further updates will be provided, and schools will reopen once the environment is considered safe.

Earlier, Katsina, Gombe and Niger also shut down schools in their states, citing security concerns in the country
