Teachers across Kaduna State have been urged to embrace modern teaching methods as the state commences a large-scale digital training programme expected to reach more than 10,000 teachers.

The Director of Initiatives and Logistics at One Million Teachers, Mr. Babatunde Openibo, made the call during a digital capacity-building workshop for teachers held in Kaduna.

According to him, the training will expose teachers to 21st-century skills including classroom management, student engagement, mentorship, and strategies for supporting slow learners—towards making Kaduna a centre of educational excellence.

Also speaking, President of One Million Teachers, Halima Sani Sada, explained that the programme is a lifelong learning system designed to help teachers continuously improve and mentor others.

Representing the Director of Schools, Kaduna State Ministry of Education, the Principal of Alhuda-Huda College Zaria, Malam Abdulrahman Yelwa, reaffirmed government commitment to improving teacher performance, saying the initiative will help produce students who can compete locally and globally.

He urged teachers to actively participate, stressing that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders.

Also speaking, Principal Education Officer, Public Schools Department, Hajiya Hadiza Usman Abdullahi, described the workshop as timely, noting that participants will cascade the knowledge to thousands of teachers across the state.

Some of the participants expressed readiness to apply the skills gained to improve teaching in their various schools.

Participants were drawn from all secondary schools in Zone One of Kaduna State.

The programme is aimed at transforming teaching and learning by equipping teachers with digital skills they can access anytime and anywhere using their mobile phones.

It is supported by HP, Girl Rising, the Canadian Government, Cardinal Electricity Transmission, and Dignity Finance.
