Jigawa State Government Malam has assured the newly appointed management of the Federal College of Agriculture, Kirikasamma full support as the institution begins its takeoff phase.
Governor Umar Namadi gave the assurance when he received the pioneer management team, led by the Provost, Dr. Muhammad Yusha’u Gwaram, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Dutse.
He congratulated the Provost and his team, describing their appointment as both historic and consequential.
Malam Umar Namadi further explained that, establishing a new institution is a demanding task, as he expressed confidence that the calibre of the team appointed positions the college for a strong beginning and long-term success.
“Establishing a new institution is not an effortless task. You are now part of history. If the college succeeds, your names will be remembered positively; if it fails, the same applies. But I am confident, given the calibre of the team, that the college is starting on the right footing,” he said.
Namadi expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assenting to the bills establishing the Federal College of Agriculture, Kirikasamma, and the Federal College of Education, Birnin Kudu. He revealed that Jigawa is on track to secure a third federal institution following his discussion with the President.
“We are greatly indebted to His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for assenting to the bills establishing both colleges-the Federal College of Agriculture, Kirikasamma, and the Federal College of Education, Birnin Kudu.
“And let me inform you, Provost: we are working on securing a third federal institution for Jigawa. I have discussed it with the president, and Insha’Allah, it will come to fruition.”
Governor Namadi also pledged his administration’s continuous support to the management team:
“As a government, we will do everything possible to ensure the successful takeoff of the college. You have our full support. We are very fortunate to have Dr. Gwaram leading this institution—an experienced agriculturist, a seasoned administrator, and a committed son of Jigawa.”
He commended the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Education, and the member representing the Birniwa/Guri/Kirikasamma Federal Constituency Alhaji Fulata for their roles in championing the establishment of the new colleges.
He also commended the Provost and the Commissioner for Higher Education for their relentless efforts.
Earlier, the Provost, Dr. Muhammad Yusha’u Gwaram expressed appreciation to the state government for its support and emphasized the college’s readiness to begin operations immediately.
According to him, the college is to be a specialized institution where modern agricultural techniques will be taught.
He pointed out that, they intend to educate farmers and also bring other relevant agencies into Jigawa state.
He noted that, they are already engaging with relevant regulatory bodies such as NBTE and others required for the takeoff.
He acknowledged the extensive efforts that led to the approval of the institution, noting the numerous engagements with relevant federal agencies, regulators, and stakeholders, and assured the governor of the management’s commitment to deliver results.
