Federal Government has been urged to demonstrate justice and fairness in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities in order to justify democratic governance in the country.

A member of the Coalition of Federal Pensioners, Ms. Dupe Akindele, made the appeal in Lagos while reacting to the delayed payment of benefits to retired workers.

Ms. Akindele expressed dismay over the discrepancies in the payment process, including the twenty-five thousand naira palliative meant to cushion the impact of the 2023 fuel subsidy removal, which many senior citizens are yet to receive.

She stressed the need for the relevant authorities particularly Mr. Wale Edun the finance Minister to abide by the Presidential Directive by paying all the outstanding benefits without further delay.

The co-ordinator of the Federal Pensioners Associations Comrade Mukaila Ogunbote in his comments told the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate and National Union of Pensioners that unless the payment is made retirees would protest the in human treatment.
