Kebbi State Police Command has Burst syndicate of suspected network installation vandals in Jega Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer CSP Nafiu Abubakar made this known in statement to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.
It explains that, based on credible intelligence, a Sharon Ford vehicle, ash in colour, with registration number, Abuja, ABJ-581-HL, was seeing wandering in Jega town, thereafter the parked around Jega Roundabout.
According to the statement, Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Jega, immediately swung into action, tracked the vehicle, and succeeded in arresting one Abdullahi Muhammad of Durbawa area, Sokoto, Sokoto State.
It adds that a search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of the following items: two digging bars, one hacksaw, two scissors, one hammer, one cutter, one solar panel, twenty-one spanners, twenty-one battery head covers, one helmet and shirt, one wire cutter, two screwdrivers, and six torchlights.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to specializing in vandalizing network service installation batteries across Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Niger, and Nasarawa States. He also mentioned one Nasiru Galashi, Yahuza, and Aminu, who are still at large as his accomplices.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for discreet investigation, with a view to intensifying efforts toward arresting the fleeing members of the syndicate and ensuring diligent prosecution.
