Niger state Independent Electoral Commission NSIEC, has been commended for supporting Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to entrench democracy at the grassroot level.
National President Forum of Independent Election Observers In Nigeria from National Council of NGO’S, DR Lazarus Nwachukwu made the commendation while addressing Newsmen in Minna, on the outcome of their findings of preliminary report of the Local Government polls.
DR Lazarus Nwachukwu explained that security agencies have discharge their duties diligently with high sense of responsibilities, as there was no serious report of violence and attack during the period of the elections and also applauded the Media, election observers and all those who trooped out in their numbers to support NSIEC to conduct the elections successfully.
He however wondered why Forum of States Independent Electoral Commissions of Nigeria equally attended or sent representatives to observe the November first Local Government elections, stressing that Commissions Chairmen should not be Judged in their own way, insisting that such practice must stopped if democracy must survive.
On the turn out of eligible voters to exercise their franchise, DR Lazarus Nwachukwu said some quarters were high at most poling units, of Niger South Senatorial Zone while in some other zones electorates turn out tremendously based on individual capacity of aspirants and political parties.
He however added that, a comprehensive records of the Independent body observations during the twenty twenty five Local Government elections in Niger state will be made public in no distant time.
